About The Images
All the photographic images are the work of Dave Lloyd or select artists associated with PixPlanet.
The desire for presenting these images is to capture a moment and present a scene, which many may never experience. The great majority of images are taken with available light using high quality digital image cameras. Some images have been taken using film cameras, 35mm or 645 medium format. The Australian photos, however, were all taken with a 35mm film camera.
Note : (April, 2006) We are rescanning all film images at much higher resolutions to improve the print detail at the time of order placement.
All the images are colour and perspective corrected. Typically, some brightness and contrast is added to compensate for any ‘light’ loss which will appear in the printing process.
The finished images are produced using high quality professional resin coated pigment inks and archival papers. This ensures extremely high display life qualities, when mounted under glass in non-direct sunlight indoor environments.
They are presented in several size options as mounted/matted or unmounted archival prints. Please see our purchasing page for more details.

For The Technically Minded
For those of you who love to know how it's done -
In the digital cameras, the captured image is resized and edited for maximum printing quality. Lens distortion and chromatic aberration are repaired. We do not manipulate the images, however, we do touch up detail in images or reduce digital noise - only if it is required.
For the film cameras, we use Kodak E100G (or VS) or Fuji Velvia 50 or 100 or Fuji Provia 100. The resultant transparency is then scanned at 4800 dpi, 48 bit colour and edited.
Once the image is colour and perspective corrected, it is printed either on an ;
- Epson Stylus Pro printer or a LightJet 5000 printer. To achieve the highest display life quality, the colour images are printed on semi-matte paper using Ultrachrome resin coated pigment inks, or, on a LightJet 5000 using Kodak Endura papers. Non-colour images are printed on archival matte paper also using Ultrachrome resin coated pigment inks.
Several independent testing bodies (other than the manufacturers) state that any of these combinations should provide a quality non-fade display life of greater than 70 + years if displayed away from direct sunlight and with a glass mount. Normal printing methods have a 'deteriorating' display life of only a few years (sometimes, even months).
